COURSE
Class Details
A beginner's course in the Mandarin, allowing you to take advantage of opportunities within an ever globalising world, This course will give you a solid foundation for your understanding in Mandarin, allowing you to understand and reciprocate essential activities in Chinese. This course is geared towards people with little to no previous in Mandarin and will create an understanding for which you are then able to either further your Chinese Language understanding or will allow you to utilise this understanding to perform better whether that be in a work or personal environment.

- Each term will consist of 12 classes

This course will run 24 weeks with a 2 hour session per week. These sessions are taken at the IIB building which is located right next to town hall station.
Course Fees
$ 432 per term
The course consists of 2 terms

Course Structure
Within each term, City Mandarin incorporates different cultural experiences relating to the Chinese culture to create a more interactive learning environment. These cultural experiences have been selected to provide an increased understanding and appreciation of the Chinese language.

The course will run for 24 weeks in which there are 12 units to the course, teachers will aim to finish 1 unit every 2 weeks.
​
The course will require minimum 5 students to run and will have a maximum of 15 students per class.

Unit 1
- Learning intials, finals and tones of Chinese Pinyin
- Basic Pronunciation and tone drills
- Learning how to greet people
- Learning how to introduce one's name and nationality

Unit 2
- Learning how to express time: the time, years, months and dates
​
Unit 3
- Learning to ask price and talk about money
- Learning how to bargain
- Learning how to express the size and colour, etc.
​
Unit 4
- Learning how to order food, make requests and pay the bill.
​
Unit 5
- Learning how to talk about family, occupations and age.
​
Unit 6
- Learning how to make and answer phone calls
​
Unit 7
- Learning how to ask for directions and places
​
Unit 8
- Learning how to use the location words
- Learning how to express the location of things
​
Unit 9
- Learning how to ask about and describe one's health
- Learning some vocabulary for the human body
​
Unit 10
- Learning how to talk about talents, abilities and leisure activities
​
Unit 11
- Learning how to describe the weather and the climate
​
Unit 12
- Learning useful words and phrases for housework
